Erickson[/caption]

Longtime Glen Ellen resident Marianne C. Erickson died in Sonoma on her way to surgery for a fractured hip on Aug. 25.

Born Marianne Catherine MacKay, in Sacramento, she moved to Glen Ellen in 1940 to work at the Sonoma State Home and 32 years later, retired as a supervisor of psychiatric technicians from the re-named Sonoma State Hospital, now known as the Sonoma Developmental Center.

In 1948, she married businessman Clifford Erickson and after retiring, both were very active in the Sonoma Valley Grange and their garden for many years. After her husband died in 1991, she lived a fiercely independent and active life at the family home in Glen Ellen. One of her much appreciated activities was to organize a group of women who checked up on each other daily by telephone.

She is survived by two nephews, Robert J. Smith and Paul R. Smith, of Sonoma and their families, and many friends.

She will be missed by all whose lives she lovingly touched during her 95 years of life.

At her request, no services will be held.

Private inurnment at Mountain Cemetery.
