Cornelius ‘Con’ Murphy

<p style="text-align: left;">  Cornelius “Con” Murphy died Aug. 24, 2013, in Sonoma. He was 84.</p>


<p style="text-align: left;">Born and raised in San Francisco’s Noe Valley, Mr. Murphy graduated from St. James High School in 1946. After attending City College of San Francisco, he enlisted in the United States Air Force, serving in Japan and Korea during that conflict.</p>

<p style="text-align: left;">He joined the San Francisco Police Department, rising through the ranks to the position of Chief of Police, retiring in 1986 after 34 years of service.</p>

<p style="text-align: left;">After retirement, Mr. Murphy served as a volunteer docent at the Año Nuevo Reserve and pursued his interests in fishing, golf, bird-watching, woodworking and wood turning.</p>
