Corrine Michie Kingsbury

Corrine Michie Kingsbury, 83, of Roseville passed away at home Feb. 28, 2014, with her loving family by her side following a brief three-month battle with acute leukemia.

Corrine came into the world in Santa Rosa on Christmas Eve 1930, daughter to Roy and Lucille Michie. She attended local schools, graduating with the SRHS class of 1948 and SRJC two years later.

Corrine wed the love of her life, Milton Ladd Kingsbury, her husband of 63 years. For most of their married life, the couple made their home in Sonoma, where Milton retired after 30 years with Wells Fargo Bank.  When the youngest of their three children entered high school, Corrine found employment outside the home as secretary at Sonoma Valley High School. After Milton’s Wells Fargo retirement in 1985, they joined forces for 13 years as a team selling real estate with Coldwell Banker Real Estate in Sonoma. To be closer to family members, in 1998 they moved to Sun City Roseville. They also enjoyed sharing summer days with family and friends at their second home at Donner Lake.

Her family includes two daughters, Cheryl Thyken (Bill) of Walla Walla, Wash., and Julie Matheson (Lance) of Granite Bay. A son, Jeffrey Kingsbury (Val), preceded her in death. Grandchildren include, Bryan Thyken (Marisa), Michael Thyken (Megan), Christopher Thyken, ?Kimberly Kingsbury, Craig Kingsbury, Kelly Matheson, Kristin Matheson, Parker Matheson, and four great-grandchildren with one more soon to arrive. She also leaves a sister, Yvonne Michie Horn of Santa Rosa, and a brother, Barry Michie (Aruna) of Manhattan, Kan.

Corrine’s favorite pastimes were daily walks, small-ship cruising, scrapbooking of trips and family – but most of all, visiting with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Among her many friends, she also treasured those among her PEO sisters in Chapter LZ (Santa Rosa) and WZ (Roseville).

At her request, no services will be held. The family suggests donations in her memory to the First Presbyterian Church Memorial Garden, 1550 Pacific Ave., Santa Rosa, CA 95404, or P.E.O. Cottey College, 1000 W. Austin, Nevada, MO 64772; 417-667-8181.
