Cops seek Glen Ellen bank robbery suspect

A lone gunman robbed the Westamerica Bank in Glen Ellen shortly before 6 p.m. Friday and escaped with an unspecified amount of money.

According to a Sheriff’s sergeant on the scene, the gunman walked into the bank, which is located at 13751 Arnold Drive and shares a building with the Glen Ellen Village Market, pointed a gun at the teller who filled a bag with an unspecified amount of money.

The suspect then took the money, placed it in a blue backpack, and fled on foot northbound Arnold Drive.

The suspect is a white male, approximately 6 feet tall, mid- to late-20s, with redish or blonde hair. The suspect was wearing a light blue long-sleeve pullover sweatshirt, khaki-colored cargo pants, and dark tennis shoes with white soles. The suspect also was wearing black sunglasses and a ski mask on his head that was described as black on the outside and red or orange on the inside.

Numerous squad cars responded to the scene as did the Sheriff’s helicopter, Henry-1.
