Hello Sonoma! Hallelujah for the rain! Let’s pray the weather report is accurate and we get more this weekend.
We are already trying to figure out ways for water conservation here at the shelter as we look toward a very dry summer. Whether it’s replacing our dog yard with an artificial lawn material or a graywater filtration system, we know we have to do something. We use a lot of water for our cleaning and the dog yard and don’t want to waste a drop. I fear we all need to get creative come the summer months.
Check out the Santa Rosa Cat Show this Saturday, Feb. 8, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday, Feb. 9, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Sonoma County Fairgrounds Main Pavilion, 1350 Bennett Valley Road, Santa Rosa. Put on by Call of the Wild Cat Fanciers, this is a family event and very affordable at $5 admission for adults, $3 for kids ages 6 to 13 and all kids under 5 free. This year’s theme is Mardi Gras.
This is an all-breed cat show and not only will there be every kind of cat breed imaginable, household cats are also welcome to enter. Pets Lifeline will be there with adoptable cats along with other animal rescues (Sonoma Humane, Forgotten Felines). Rain or shine, it’s a great thing to do with the kids. You can check out our website for more information at petslifeline.org or go to srcatshow.com.
For Valentine’s Day, we have our “Have a Heart, Adopt a Shelter Pet” special with all cats $14 from Feb. 10 to Feb. 21. We want all of our cats to find their special valentine.
We are so happy that our beloved Sandy and Hazel got adopted recently. Here’s a shout out to Andy and Rick for adopting Marley, a big fluffy adult tuxedo.
We have some really nice adult cats like Marshall, the last of our Safeway kitties, Miss Emily, Duncan, MamaSara, Candace, Paddy, just to name a few. We even have a kitten in the kitten room, Honey Boo Boo, who is an adorable long-hair tuxedo. My friend Elise brought her to us as a wild little thing all hissy and unsocial, but now she’s a sweet lovable lass that just wants to be petted. Check out our website at petslifeline.org/adopt and fall in love today.
We now have four of the Finnish lapphund dogs that Sonoma Humane rescued from a sad situation in Redding.
The little lappys, as we affectionately call them, will not be available for adoption for at least another two weeks as they need some recovery time. Check in with us if you are interested and will let you know when you can see them.
If you just can’t wait, we have some cutie-patootie canines available for adoption that are sure to captivate you. There is Claire, a sweet little minpin pup; Chloe, a brindle chi mix, and Rita, a dainty little chi mix with huge eyes to soak you in.
Bessie, our beautiful lab girl, is still here and could really use a valentine sent from heaven. This girl will absolutely melt your heart. She needs a special home with no other animals in the house and dog-savvy people. I’m sure you’re out there somewhere, so please come down for a meet.
I look forward to seeing you all soon. Until then … peace, love and paws!
