Comedy will take the stage as Murphy’s Irish Pub features Caitlin Gill, Dash Kwiatkowski and Dan Mires for two shows, at 7 and 9:30 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 18.
Gill was a performer at the Outside Lands Festival in 2012 and has been in SF Sketchfest every year since 2007. She performed in the Vancouver Global Comedy Fest, was host of the 2009 SF Women’s Comedy Competition and The Ladies Room Open Mic and Showcase. Her writing has been featured in a Believer Magazine project for 826LA.
She has worked with some of the best talent in the industry, including Robin Williams, Bobcat Goldthwait, Hannibal Burress, Kyle Kinane, Marc Maron, W. Kamau Bell, Todd Barry, Doug Benson, Arj Barker, Tony Camin, Tig Notaro and many other names. The magazine 7×7 featured her as one of the seven Comics Rocking the Local Scene in July 2011. She was the Tourettes Without Regrets 2011 Slam Champion and a competitor at the 2011 National Poetry Slam.
A former musician and actor, comedian Kwiatkowski has been performing since he was 14. Now an established comedian, Kwiatkowski’s stand-up is a unique blend of material based on everything from comic books to crazy life experiences and observations on the world around him. It’s a signature style that has been called “rockabilly nerd comedy.” In addition to his own comedy, Kwiatkowski co-produces the nerdy stand up show, The Avengers of Comedy.
Mires is a staple in the San Francisco Bay Area comedy scene who has performed all over California. He has brought crowds to tears at venues such as Punchline, Cobb’s Comedy Club, The Purple Onion (RIP), Improv (San Jose and Irvine), Tommy T’s & The Comedy Store.
Growing up as the youngest of four boys all born within five years. Mires has seen and done some unspeakable things that he likes to speak about in front of large groups of people.
The show is hosted by Torio Van Grol whose primary habitat is the comedy clubs of the Bay Area, but he has been spotted as far south as San Diego, and as far north as Sonoma, grazing on the region’s naturally plentiful burritos. Van Grol is highly prized for his jokes, which are rumored to have aphrodisiacal properties. He is both fascinating and terrifying to children. He runs Back Alley Comedy, a monthly comedy show in Sonoma featuring some of California’s best headliners. He finished runner-up in the 2013 Rooster T. Feathers comedy competition almost finally making his father proud of him.
