It’s that time again, the seventh annual Sonoma Bar Battle will take place Saturday, Oct. 12, at 6 p.m. at the Sonoma Valley Veterans Memorial Building. As always, proceeds from the night’s events will be split between the Native Sons of the Golden West, Parlor #111, and the American Legion Jack London, Post #489.

Local bartenders will once again face off for the title of “Sonoma’s Best Bartender.” All of these participating bars and restaurants will come together for the evening, offering a signature cocktail and appetizers for all guests to try. They will decorate their booth and vie for the attendees’ votes to earn the title for “Best Booth” and “Best Fan Cocktail” for their concoctions.

The bartenders will compete in an “Iron Chef” style challenge with a bartender twist; once on stage each bartender will have just 10 minutes to make a cocktail using a secret ingredient that has just been revealed to them. The winner from each heat will move to the final; this winner will be given the title of “Sonoma’s Best Bartender.”

For the fourth year, Gloria Ferrer Caves and Vineyards will host its own competition within the Sonoma Bar Battle. Each bartender competing will be asked to make a cocktail that features Gloria Ferrer Brut.

As far as the entertainment goes, this year the Whiskey Thieves will be back to play with their highly energetic rock ‘n’ rock and blues sound. There will also be a silent auction and food and drink.

Tickets are available in advance at Steiners Tavern, Town Square, Eraldi’s Menswear, Mary’s Pizza Shack (on the Plaza) and Blue Moon Saloon.

Tickets are $35 in advance and can be purchased until 5 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 11, or can be purchased at the door for $40. This event is for age 21 and older.

All the proceeds from the event are split between the local posts of the Native Sons of the Golden West and the American Legion Jack London. These two volunteer groups support many organizations in the community, giving both time and money to make other events a success.
