Clean Power savings questioned

Editor, Index-Tribune

I’m confused! Last I heard, the “savings” on the actual power portion of the (Sonoma Clean Power) bill would be 3 percent the first year and unknown thereafter! Has that changed in percent and duration?

I hope you are not feathering your bed with this opinion.

The portion of our electric bill serviced by PG&E will remain as it has always been for transmission, bonds, nuclear retirement, etc. Typically, half your bill is power consumption and the other half transmission plus anything else the PUC forced PG&E to pay for, which really means the ratepayer pays.

SCP is government competing with private industry. I know of no enterprise where government operates a business more efficiently than private or public enterprises. The Smart Train is also on my list of money pits! I do not expect SCP to be an exception.

You might also want to advise folks that if they want to switch back to PG&E, they have to give PG&E six months notice.

Why can government do what they’re best at, fix the roads, provide public safety, education, maintain the water treatment plants and provide for water. Based on water rationing, pot holes, schools in decay, not enough cops on the street and more and more taxes needed to pay for less and less services, it appears they can’t even do that right.

Now they want to screw up electricity service. Gas will be next!
