Clarification on allowing dogs in Montini

Editor, Index-Tribune:

First, thank you for the endorsement for City Council!

Second, I want to clarify a quote regarding dogs in the Montini Preserve from the Oct. 18 profiles on the City Council candidates.

While it is true that I do not support regulations that cannot be enforced, I believe the city can allow on-leash dogs on the Montini Trail in a way that will be self-enforced by our community of responsible dog owners, as well as enforced by law authorities when necessary.

The Montini Preserve is an outstanding achievement for the city.

It protects the backdrop of Sonoma from development and enables the community to get outside and enjoy our beautiful environment. I have spoken at City Council meetings in favor of allowing leashed dogs in the Montini Preserve, and I will continue to support allowing this use in a way that is safe for other trail users and mitigates the impact on the Montini ecosystem.
