Chamson will host renowned pinot tasting

Chamson, the local nonprofit organization representing Sonoma’s French Sister City, is having a wine tasting of six renowned pinot noir “crus” from 3 to 5 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 25, at a private residence in Sonoma.

All the wines are from the renowned Vougeot–Romanee district of the Côte de Nuit in Burgundy, France. The wines were specifically chosen by Burgundian sommeliers to represent the terroir associated with Sonoma’s famed sister city, which is located in the heart of this region.

A brief presentation will be given describing this unique terroir, including maps of the villages of the Côte D’Or, the actual vineyard locations and a brief discussion of the Burgundy wine-growing region of France.

The tasting wines will include:

Chambolle-Musigny 2011 “Les Charmes” Premiere Cru;

Morey St Denis 2010 “Baulets” Premiere Cru;

Vougeot 2011 “Cras” Premiere Cru;

Gevrey-Chambertin 2010 “La Justice” Cru;

Chambolle-Musigny 2010 “Les Greucher” Premiere Cru;

Vosne Romanee 2010 “Aux Brulees” Premiere Cru.

The cost is $80 a person. The tasting is totally nonprofit and includes a donation to Chamson. The donation will be used to help Sister Cities host a visit by its friends from Chambolle-Musigny next summer.
