Senior Art Show opens Sept. 16 in Santa Rosa

The 17th annual Senior Art Show will be held from Tuesday, Sept. 16, through Thursday, Oct. 23, at the Finley Center, 2060 W. College Ave. in Santa Rosa. More than 100 Sonoma County senior artists will exhibit their art during this free show, including 15 artists from Vintage House senior center.

Historians talk Indian baskets

Renowned historians Ralph and Lisa Woo Shanks will share their knowledge about artistic and cultural basket design and weaving when they speak about their new book, “Indian Baskets of Central California: Art, Culture and History,” as part of the Sonoma Valley Historical Society’s monthly lecture series.

Drum, dance workshop set for Sept. 10

Sandor Diabankouezi, a world-class Congolese master drummer and lead choreographer for the National Ballet du Congo for 11 years, will conduct a drumming and dance workshop starting at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 10, at FAHA Manor, 191 W. Verano Ave.

Vintage Festival announces music acts for 2014

The Valley of the Moon Vintage Festival, held on the last full weekend of September since 1947, has announced the music festival portion of the line-up. But, before we go further, we want you to know that the festival is one of the few that foots the bill so 20-plus nonprofits can raise money for their causes over the course of the weekend, some garnering all the funding they need for they year from this one event.

The Tuesday night market has Stan Pappas performing songs from the “Rat Pack” era on the horseshoe lawn tonight, Aug. 12, starting at 6 p.m. The Sonoma Valley Jazz Society presents Richard Howell and Sudden Change in the Grinstead Amphitheatre, also starting at 6 p.m.
