Can't find net, Sonoma soccer girls fall to Analy

In a physical Sonoma County League battle with plenty of penalties, including two red cards and two yellows, the Sonoma Valley High School varsity soccer girls held their own with perennial SCL power Analy for a good portion of Wednesday night's match in Sebastopol.

But the visiting Lady Dragons couldn't find the net, while Analy turned a controversial call into a penalty kick goal and added a second one for a 2-0 halftime advantage, which remained the same for 35 second-half minutes.

Unfortunately, Sonoma, again, couldn't break through with a score and the Tiger girls tallied two late goals for a 4-0 win.

The Lady Dragons make their final stop in a three-game SCL road trip tonight in Healdsburg, before returning home to host El Molino at 4 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 1, at the high school field.

Sonoma's varsity soccer boys were scheduled to face longtime SCL rival Analy in the first of two league showdowns between the co-defending SCL champions Tuesday night in Sebastopol, but the match never took place because there was no bus to transport the Dragons. The match will be rescheduled.

Tonight the Dragon boys play in Healdsburg and continue their four-match SCL road trip facing El Molino in Forestville on Tuesday, Sept. 30.
