Sonoma on the forefront of hospitality trends

A local Sonoma restaurant supply company is on the forefront of the new trend of compostable bamboo and palmware takeout containers, and wooden cutlery.

Located in a large warehouse at 1201 E. MacArthur St. at Eighth Street East, Vicor Restaurant Supply serves local restaurants, home chefs, hotels, wineries, tasting rooms and other hospitality venues. The company recently relocated to Sonoma from Napa.

Vicor was founded in 2001 with the goal of providing take-out and disposable products to restaurants and the hospitality industry. Its products include food preparation, storage and transportation items, in addition to towels, tissue and janitorial products.

The company was purchased in 2013 by Sonoma residents Bill Angeloni and Craig Hamilton, and they decided to move it closer to home. They currently have more than 100 customers across Napa and Sonoma counties, in hospitality operations for catering, restaurant and spa, housekeeping and kitchen. Some of their local customers include St. Francis Winery, the Fairmont Sonoma Mission Inn, El Dorado Kitchen and the Sonoma Stompers.

Hamilton said that Vicor is willing to stock anything that a restaurant needs and that he’s willing to deliver small lots and to break full-case quantities, if necessary. The company also offers custom-printed products and sourcing of unusual products for clients.

Vicor is busy keeping pace with changes in the restaurant industry as it moves away from Styrofoam and into compostable projects (think bio-degradeable straws). To that end, Angeloni and Hamilton have recently reached out to local nonprofits that serve food to the community with an offer to provide them with more than $50,000 in new and unopened but discontinued product inventory.

Any nonprofits interested in learning more about what is available for donation can email Hamilton at craig@vicorsupply.com.
