New store: Debra Smith and her daughter Chelsea Styles-Smith have opened a new consignment shop called Top Drawer with a grand opening party last weekend. Located at 9255 Sonoma Highway in Kenwood, Top Drawer Consignment will be open Friday through Monday, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Permanent makeup: Sandra Petrini has opened a permanent makeup business, Beautiful Faces by Sandra, in the medical building at 181 Andrieux St. Petrini was previously a nurse for 35 years. She does cosmetic work but also can offer post-mastectomy tattoo work, do scalp microneedling to camouflage hair loss and perform saline tattoo removal. She is open Monday to Friday by appointment. License: The City of Sonoma Finance Department has announced that business license renewals for 2019 have been delayed and will be mailed out shortly.

Opening event: Estela Salon is hosting an evening of holiday cheer from 3 to 6 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 9 at 730 Broadway. RSVP at facebook.com/pg/estelasonomsalon/events.

Top That: Top That on Broadway has undergone a big interior renovation and now, in addition to yogurt, the store now offers a wide range of Bobo teas, cake pops, chocolate dipped Oreos, chocolate dipped pretzels, chocolate dipped rice krispies, chocolate dipped strawberries. Starting next week, the shop will also offer an espresso bar.

Tourism: Sonoma Valley Visitors Bureau is working with Travelzoo, a global travel media company with 28 million worldwide members, to encourage travel to Sonoma Valley from December to February.

New Hire: 3 Badge Beverage Corporation has hired Eric Timmerman as national sales manager for its spirits division, 3 Badge Mixology. Most recently, Timmerman was vice president of sales for spirits importer AmBrabev in Kentucky.

Todd O'Leary, former vice president of global partnerships and strategic alliances for San Francisco Travel, has joined Sonoma County Tourism as its vice president of marketing and communications.

Commuter news: Highway 101 carpool lanes are coming soon. Funding is now secure to add carpool lanes through Petaluma - from Petaluma Boulevard North to Lakeville Highway - following the defeat of Prop 6. The final segment will break ground next year just as work at the Sonoma-Marin county line wraps up, where northbound traffic recently shifted onto a new a new bridge over San Antonio Creek.

Free rides: The Sonoma Emergency Ride Home program will reimburse rides home in cases of a qualifying emergency for anyone who works in Sonoma County and uses an alternative transportation option, such as carpooling, vanpooling, public transit, bicycling or walking. www.scta.ca.gov/projects/emergency-ride.

Awards: For the third time this year, Sonoma magazine has been named 'Cover of the Day' by the Society of Publication Designers. The cover honored this time was the Top 100 Wines issue. sonomamag.com.
