The Hanna Institute, the outreach program dedicated to trauma-informed care based at Hanna Boys Center, has named a new co-director.

Erin Hawkins joins the institute after serving as director of community health at the Petaluma Health Care District. She joins co-director Nick Dalton in leading the institute in its mission of advancing nonviolent communication, social justice and trauma recovery.

Hanna CEO Brian Farragher said he’s excited to have Hawkins join the team.

“Erin brings a wealth of knowledge and community connection that will help us take the Hanna Institute to the next level,” said Farragher.

Farragher said he sees having dual directors as an opportunity to expand the institute’s ability to bring the latest trauma-informed practices and tools to organizations that serve youth and families in Sonoma County and beyond.

Described in a Hanna press release as a “dedicated community health and social justice advocate,” Hawkins is a member of the Board of Directors of COTS, an active Sonoma County Rotarian and involved in efforts to improve health equity in the county. She lives in Santa Rosa with her husband and two sons.
