A combination retail store, maker space and tasting room has opened down a narrow alley off the Plaza. Abbot’s Passage, the brainchild of sixth-generation vintner Katie Bundschu, opened officially this week and is hosting an open house from noon to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 16.

“We’re offering goods for the modern-day adventurer, maker workshops and a wine salon showcasing small-lot blends from Abbot’s Passage,” explained former advertising executive Liddy Parlato, who is managing the Red Barn space that was previously Len Does My Hair.

On Saturday, Bundschu and Parlato will be pouring Abbot’s Passage wines which will be paired with eats from Q Craft BBQ.

The retail space features a rotating selection of apparel, home décor and jewelry from brands such as Filson, Taylor Stitch, Juniper Ridge, K/LLER Collection and Lovely Bird.

Upstairs, a casual maker space will host two sessions on Saturday, one on living jewelry and one on foraged fall sprays, to give a taste of the workshops planned for the space in 2018.

“We’ll be partnering with some of our favorite brands to offer interactive workshops – perhaps rewaxing canvas goods or carving obsidian arrowheads or adorning medicine hats,” Parlato explained.

The team describe the Abbot’s Passage aesthetic as well-crafted brands aligned around outdoor adventure. Bundschu and Parlato have been working on the idea for almost three years and are thrilled for their “mercantile” to finally be open. By spring, Bundschu hopes to add ten or so seats outdoors as well.

“We want this to be a different kind of space than exists anywhere else here right now,” explained Parlato. “We are aiming for the space to be inviting and engaging and for it to tell the story of our brand by inviting people to get off their phone and see and learn something new.”

Abbot’s Passage Supply Co. is located in the Red Barn at 27 East Napa St. It is open seven days a week from 11 a.m to 6 p.m.
