Sonoma Valley Cyclery is closing after 23 years and hosting a storewide retirement clearance sale.

Community Cafe has closed (which means no more Sushinoma in that spot as well). The owners sold off all equipment, furniture, dishes, glassware, pots and pans, patio furniture earlier this week.

Garcia’s Bakery, which also was home to New Haven Apizza, has also closed its doors.

As for businesses hurt by the fires, unfortunately Sonoma Lavender and Flatbed Farm were all but destroyed.

Maya Restaurant was closed for about a week because of staffing issues from the fires but it reopened on Wednesday.

Pizzeria Capri is still closed, as of press time, due to water damage.

Fire benefit: Sonoma Springs Brewing Company plans its annual Sottile Red release party on Saturday, Nov. 11, to mark the anniversary of the three-alarm blaze that torched the back of its home on Riverside Drive. The event takes place from 1 to 6 p.m. in the Sonoma Springs parking lot and taproom. The event is free to attend with proceeds going to benefit Sonoma Volunteer Firefighters Association.

Name change: The mini-storage facility across from Maxwell Village at 19240 Highway 12 looks much the same but it is now Smart Stop Self Storage.

Cheese spreading: All five CHEVOO marinated goat cheese varietals are now available in every Whole Foods Market store in the U.S., as well as at hundreds of independent retailers. The company was founded by Sonoma transplants Susan and Gerard Tuck.

Job fair: The Rebuild Sonoma County Job Fair will be held at Graton Resort and Casino. Companies can have a table for free and job seekers are free to attend. It runs from 1 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 7, at 288 Golf Course Drive, W., Rohnert Park.

Resignation: CEO Tamara Stanley has resigned from Habitat for Humanity Sonoma County. Stanley has taken a new role with Redwood Credit Union.

New brands: 3 Badge Beverage Corporation has introduced Cedar + Salmon, a new line of wines from the Pacific. Cedar + Salmon Pinot Gris is up first, followed by Cedar + Salmon Cabernet Sauvignon and Pinot Noir. In addition to Cedar + Salmon, other 3 Badge Enology wines include Gehricke, Leese-Fitch, Plungerhead, Moobuzz and The White Knight.

New hires:

Nelson Staffing, the largest independent staffing company in Northern California, has promoted Joe Madigan to chief executive officer. Madigan will assume CEO responsibilities for the Sonoma-headquartered workforce solutions industry leader effective Jan. 1, 2018. Madigan has over 20 years of recruiting and networking experience in the Bay Area and over 13 years of experience with Nelson.

Hanna Boys Center recently welcomed Father Gregory McGivern as the Center’s new resident chaplain. McGivern was born in Ireland and most recently was at Mercy High School. He is a licensed marriage and family therapist.

Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI) at Sonoma State University has hired Elizabeth Haskell as the new Program Assistant at its Oakmont satellite campus.

The Sonoma Valley Chamber of Commerce has hired Meredith Nevard as its director of Special Events and Marketing.

Pop culture: Windee Smith and Chad Richards, of The Panel Wine Club, have launched Pop Culture, a wine club devoted exclusively to small-production, grower Champagne and sparkling wine from around the world. Members will receive three or six bottles every eight weeks or on a quarterly basis. Pop Culture offers two memberships: La Bonne Vie, for Champagne only, and Rising Bubbles, for a global selection of sparkling wine, including Champagne.

New tasting room: Napa-based Schermeister Cellars is seeking a use permit to operate a 600-square-foot wine tasting room in Jack London Village. It would be open Wednesday through Sunday, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

CORRECTION: CC Salon at Fiesta Plaza (18615 Sonoma Highway) remains OPEN.
