Presentation School third graders present business plans

Local business owners consulted on the projects|

Having finished a reading unit on “dollars and sense,” the third graders at Presentation School began working on a project where they are paired up with a partner and have to write their own business plans. On Oct. 3, they presented their ideas to the Presentation community on Business Day.

Guest speakers and business owners came to Melissa Yazzolino’s class to help the students with their ideas and the students worked on advertising and slogans in class. Each year, the money they raise is donated to a cause of the student’s choice and this year the students picked Clearwater Aquarium in Florida. This nonprofit aquarium focuses on rescue, rehab and release of animals and recently sustained damage from Hurricane Irma.

“To make the kids feel connected to their cause, we watch live webcam feeds of the animals and recently saw a sea turtle being released back into the ocean,” said Yazzolino.
