Sonoma Creamery, a maker of premium cheeses and cheese snacks, has received a $10 million investment from a Chicago private equity firm, the Sonoma company announced Tuesday.

The investment by Svoboda Capital Partners LLC will be used to support Sonoma Creamery’s growth efforts, including developing new products, hiring key staff and expanding production capacity.

“We have been impressed with Sonoma’s ability to innovate and grow in the exciting healthy snack category,” Jeff Piper, a managing director at Svoboda Capital, said in a statement.

Founded in 1931, Sonoma Creamery in recent years has launched various snack products, including Mr. Cheese O’s, a gluten-free, naturally lactose-free, baked cheese product.
