Moving sale: Harvest Home is leaving its spot just off the Plaza on West Napa and having a huge “everything 50 percent off” sale starting on May 12. On or around Memorial Day weekend, Craig Miller’s store will reopen, alongside sister store Fat Pilgrim, in Miller’s newly expanded space on lower Broadway. We hear that the upscale gift and accessory Healdsburg store, Wildeflower, will be moving into the space in mid-June.

Sausage Emporium: Miranda Ives, owner of the Hare and Hatter coffee bar inside Friedman’s Home Improvement, is poised to soon open her new coffee bar and sausage emporium down El Paseo alley.

La Casa generosity: La Casa celebrated its 50th anniversary last month by donating a portion of its procedes in April to local nonprofits as a thank you to locals for their continuous support. At 5:30 p.m. on Monday, May 15, owner Pemba Sherpa will hand out the checks at the restaurant.

New office space: The new white office building built by Christopher Oscar across from Fiesta Plaza at 18590 Sonoma Highway is close to completion and now available for rent are two offices (800 and 1200 square feet) and two two-bedroom apartments (1000 square feet each). Email

Sandbox closing: The popular children’s consignment shop in Sonoma Marketplace on West Napa Street is closing its doors on May 31 after 12 years in Sonoma, and a big sale is on now.

Christian clothing: The Sonoma-based apparel company Chasing Grace has launch an expanded clothing line called the Spirited Collection which includes a short sleeve T-shirt, a lightweight sweatshirt, a T-shirt dress and a hooded sweatshirt. “Our tops are vehicles for communication,” says co-founder Beth Fenton. “Each artist and image is very carefully chosen in hopes of further-proliferating our mission of creating meaningful messages that people will love to wear and share.”

New postmaster: In mid-April, Shanda Duro was sworn in as the new Glen Ellen postmaster. Duro, 45, has been with the U.S. Postal Service in 2000.

Pool news: The official opening day for Morton’s Warm Springs is Saturday, May 13, just in time for Mother’s Day.
