Bouverie Preserve eyes things that go bump in the night

Audubon Canyon Ranch (ACR), a North Bay leader in conservation science, habitat protection and restoration and nature education, will host a Fall Backyard Naturalist Program titled “Bats, Spiders, Owls, Oh My!” from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 31, at its 535-acre Bouverie Preserve in Glen Ellen.

Families are invited to explore the nocturnal wonders of the Bouverie Preserve while enjoying games and a night hike led by Anne Burnett, ACR’s director of education.

The program begins promptly at the witching hour of 6 p.m. Dress warmly and come prepared to spend a few hours outdoors. Costumes appreciated but not required. Children must be accompanied by an adult.

The cost is $35, $25 for ACR members at sponsor-level or above, and free for children 10 and under. Class size is limited. Registration required by Oct. 29. To reserve a spot, email rsvp@egret.org or call 415-868-9244.
