Belly dancers shimmy across Rotary Stage

Belly dancers take the Rotary Stage at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 8, as part of the Sonoma Community Center’s 2014 Winter Concert Series.

Professional dancers from the Bay Area and beyond bring the ancient art form of belly dance to Sonoma’s Rotary Stage.

In this performance, Sonoma native Nathalie Tedrick and dancers from the highly selective Bellydance Superstars will perform powerful and complex choreography while fusing other forms of movement into belly dance for fans of any dance discipline to appreciate.

“This show is about not only appealing to the core belly dance community, but also to a wider dance audience.” said Toni Castrone, Sonoma Community Center’s executive director.

Tedrick is a passionate, international-touring actress-dancer singer with a background in Shakespeare and training in several Hollywood acting studios. She was a professional dancer for seven years with the Belly dance Superstars and performed internationally on stages across the U.S., Canada, Europe, Africa, Asia, and the Middle East.

Tickets are $28 general admission ($23 balcony) at svbo.org, by phone at 938-4626, ext. 1, or in person at 276 E. Napa St., Monday through Friday, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., and 30 minutes before show time.
