Being buddies

Flowery Elementary School’s buddy system is in place so that the younger children (kindergarten and first graders) make connections with the older children (grades four and five) to model good classroom behavior and work on projects together. Buddies meet every five weeks or so to work on projects such as reading, crafts and studying. On a recent Tuesday, first-grader Allison Hernandez and her buddy, fourth-grader Lauren Johnston play a dice adding game in Greg Campbell’s fourth-grade classroom.
