Ash Wednesday

Wednesday was Ash Wednesday. For Christians, Ash Wednesday is the start of Lent, a 40-day period of prayer, repentance and penance leading up to Easter Sunday, which falls on April 5 this year. Ashes, which are traditionally made from palms from Palm Sunday, were distributed on Wednesday. The Rev. Mike Kelly, pastor of St. Francis Solano, was distributing ashes during a noon Mass.
