Arts panel seeks arts award nominees

The City of Sonoma Cultural and Fine Arts Commission’s 2014 Student Creative Arts Award Program is now open for entries.

This award program is open to Sonoma Valley residents ages 16 to 21, who are studying visual, literary or performing arts. Lisa Carlsson, chair of the Cultural and Fine Arts Commission, said, “I’ve been truly amazed by the talent demonstrated by Sonoma Valley students.”

Applicants must submit a completed application form; a 200- to 500-word statement explaining the role art has played in their life and what their plans are for continuing artistic training; a portfolio of at least five works; and all will participate in an interview by Commission members.

A $2,000 award will be offered.

The application form may be downloaded from the city’s website sonomacity.org or by contacting the city clerk. The deadline to submit an entry is Jan. 17. For additional information, contact the city clerk at 933-2216 or gjohann@sonomacity.org.
