The Arts Guild of Sonoma (AGS) has a new exhibition or work by guild member artists, which can be seen at the guild’s gallery.
The exhibition runs through Nov. 25, and the public is invited to the opening reception on Friday, Nov. 1, from 6 to 8 p.m.
It is a free event and there will be food, local wine and superb local art to enjoy with friends, community members and fellow artists.
The Arts Guild of Sonoma, located right off the Plaza, is a contemporary art gallery with changing monthly exhibits showcasing the work of local artists. Opening receptions are held on the first Friday of each month to celebrate the artists and their work.
The show includes exhibit pieces in acrylic, encaustic, oil and water color paintings, jewelry, mixed media work, ceramics, metal sculpture and more, including smaller objets d’art, prints and note cards.
The guild was founded to exhibit and advance the creative efforts of local Bay Area artists. The guild also participates in a wide range of community outreach programs to encourage art appreciation and inspire direct participation in the arts. One such program is Artescape (artescapesonoma.com), an art school in Boyes Hot Springs that holds classes, workshops, demonstrations, exhibitions and other continuing programs.
Founded in 1977, the guild has solidified its status as the oldest, continuously operating artists’ collective in the state of California.
The Arts Guild of Sonoma’s gallery is wheelchair accessible and is located at 140 E. Napa St., Sonoma. Admission is free and gallery hours are Wednesday to Monday, 11 a.m. until 5 p.m. See images of the artists’ work at artsguildofsonoma.com.
