The Arts Guild of Sonoma is hosting its the annual Small but Grand Works exhibition which runs from April 4 to April 28 at the guild’s gallery, 140 E. Napa St., in Sonoma.

The public is invited to the opening reception from 6 to 8 p.m. today, Friday April 4.

The Arts Guild of Sonoma sponsors and participates in a wide range of community outreach programs to encourage art appreciation and inspire direct participation in the arts. The Small but Grand Works exhibition is an important component in the effort to involve students in the creation of art. Every year, 100 8-inch-by-10-inch canvases are distributed to Sonoma Valley High School students and other Valley students who are invited to be creative in any medium they wish – paint, drawing, pen and ink, collage, dimensional etc. with the only limitation being a vertical format. This program is funded by a grant from the Sonoma Plein Air Foundation.

In addition to the students’ work, the gallery will be exhibiting Guild members work in its ongoing monthly rotation of exhibiting artists.

Admission is free and gallery hours are Wednesday to Monday, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. See the gallery website at artsguildofsonoma.com; email, gallery@artsguildofsonoma.org or phone 996-3115.
