Arts Guild hosting ArtEscape reception

The Arts Guild of Sonoma will showcase the artwork of students of ArtEscape, as well as works by Guild artists during September’s exhibition.

An opening reception will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. today, Friday, Sept. 5, in the gallery, 140 E. Napa St. in Sonoma. Artists, friends and the community are invited to attend this event. Local wine and snacks will be served. The show runs until Sept. 29.

Thanks to a grant from the Rose Marie Pieper Foundation, free workshops introduce the teens to a variety of mediums. The September show at the Guild includes works of mixed media, fused glass, 3D architectural box, casting and encaustic. The student artists are Ellie Bon, Liam Bon, Max Bon, Sydney Boldt, Ava Burke, Cobi Cabrera, Liv Cole, Lena Mallet, Bernardo Moya, and Liam O’Driscoll.

The Guild was founded in 1977 to exhibit and advance the creative efforts of Bay Area artists. Located right off the Plaza, it is a contemporary art gallery with changing monthly exhibits showcasing the work of local artists. Opening receptions are held on the first Friday of each month and exhibit pieces in acrylic, encaustic, oil and water color paintings, jewelry, mixed media work, ceramics, photography, metal sculpture and more, including smaller objets d’art, prints and note cards. The guild also participates in a wide range of community outreach programs to encourage art appreciation and inspire direct participation in the arts.

Admission is free and hours are Wednesday to Monday, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Gallery website is www.artsguildofsonoma.com. Email, gallery@artsguildofsonoma.org, or call 996-3115.
