Sonoma's Dagner claims 2nd in NCS girls' regional qualifier

Last year, Sonoma Valley High School senior Brooke Dagner, the two-time reigning Sonoma County League individual girls' golf champion, had a disappointing outing at the Tilden Park Golf Club in Berkeley, and was concerned about her return to the course for yesterday's North Coast Section Regional Qualifying girls' tournament.

Well, Dagner overcame her Tilden Park worries in an impressive fashion by firing a standout round of an 11-over-par 82 and capturing an NCS-finals-qualifying second-place finish. "Brooke (Dagner) was outstanding. I knew she would do a lot better at Tilden Park this year because she's definitely a more confident golfer this year and she proved it with her impressive second place in a very competitive tournament," said longtime coach Tom Hickerson.

The next stop for Dagner - which is also the final hurdle she needs to clear to attain her goal of reaching the challenging girls' NorCals - is the NCS championships, which take place this Monday, Nov. 2, at the Baywood Golf and Country Club course in Arcata.
