Smile for the camera

Sonoma County Sheriff's Deputies got more than a helping hand from a witness recently - they got a picture.

At about 3:30 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 17, a developmentally disabled man was out for a walk on Sierra Drive when a couple of juveniles started taunting him about his disability. One of the juveniles called the man a "retard," to which the man replied that he wasn't "a retard."

Deputies said that one of the juveniles hit the victim and then threw a ball at him.

Well, it seems a good-Samaritan had heard the commotion and not only did he run outside, but he also grabbed his camera. And he took a picture of the 13-year-old which he showed to deputies when they arrived.

The 13-year-old was cited with violating the civil rights of a victim by force and released to his mother. The second juvenile wasn't charged.
