Boys & Girls Club Valley of the Moon will hold sign-ups for boys and girls 4-years-old through second grade interested in playing junior coed basketball at the club from 6 to 7 p.m. this Thursday, May 29, and from 10 to 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 31. Sonoma Valley Lacrosse Club is holding a "lacrosse demo day" for boys and girls in second- through 12th-grades who would like to learn about the sport and possibly join a team for the next season from 10 a.m. to noon this Sunday, June 1, at the Prestwood Elementary School field - wear cleats and bring water. Ducks Unlimited event scheduled The Sonoma Valley chapter of Ducks Unlimited will hold its 29th annual banquet on Friday evening, June 13, back at the Sonoma Valley Veterans Memorial Building. The evening festivities begin at 5:30 p.m. with refreshments, silent auction bidding and other activities, with dinner at 7:30 p.m. followed by the live auction. Ticket prices, which include annual DU membership, are $70 for individuals ($120 for a couple), and $50 for "Greenwings" (youth). VOMLL dinner/dance, bike raffle
Valley of the Moon Little League will hold a 50th anniversary celebration and dinner/dance - plus a no-host bar with soft drinks, wine, beer and cocktails - from 6 to 10:30 p.m. on Saturday, June 14, at the Sonoma Veterans Memorial Building, 126 First St. W. The cost is $25 a person, which includes a surf and turf dinner and dance music from the Valley's Berry Brothers. Also, the VOMLL is holding a fundraising raffle for a shiny red fat-tire cruiser bicycle - the drawing will be held on the season's closing-day ceremonies at Paul's Field on Sunday, June 15 - with the price being $25 for one ticket or five tickets for $100. Tickets for the dinner/dance and the bike raffle are available at the VOMLL's Paul's Field (Verano Avenue across from Maxwell Farms Regional Park) snack bar during weekday afternoon and Saturday games. Interfaith coed softball openings
Players of all skill levels are welcome to join the Sonoma Valley Interfaith Coed Softball League for men and women ages 18 and older belonging to local congregations. The eighth season of Monday night games from June through August will again be played at Hanna Boys Center, 17000 Arnold Drive. Cost is $15 a player. SONOMA VALLEY TENNIS Association's free tennis clinics for Valley youths ages 6 to 15 years old are set for Tuesday evenings from 5 to 6:30 p.m., at the Maxwell Farms Regional Park courts. First session starts June 10, and runs through July 8 - the second session begins July 15. Pre-registration is required with the first session running fromand the second session is July 15, through Aug. 12. A $20 refundable deposit is required. VALLEY OF THE Moon Aquatics is offering swimming lessons - as well as a "stroke school" for swimmers who have advanced beyond SwimAmerica's Station 6 learn-to-swim curriculum - at the Hanna Boys Center pool beginning Tuesday, June 10, and continuing through Friday, Aug. 1, from 9 a.m. to noon and 2 to 3:40 p.m. Swimmers ages 4 and older are welcome. DRAGONS' FRESHMAN FOOTBALL'S annual noncontact grid camp designed for incoming ninth-graders and first-time players will be held in the Sonoma Valley High School weight room and on the Schantz Track practice field Monday through Thursday, June 16 to 19, from 4 to 5:30 p.m. Cost for the football camp is $50 a player. The camp consists of strength training, agilities, skills and techniques of football, directed by head varsity grid coach Mick O'Meara and the Dragons' football staff - water, T-shirt, shorts and cleats required. SONOMA CRUSH YOUTH Basketball's Lady Dragon girls' summer basketball camp for ages 8 to 14 at Sonoma Valley High School's Pfeiffer Gym - Mondays through Fridays the weeks of June 23 to 27, and July 14 to 18, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Camp costs are $150 a week - $125 for current SCYB members, two or more sisters in a family, or girls who sign up for both camps - or a partial-attendance fee of $30 a day. ARGENTINA SOCCER SCHOOL'S annual two-week-long soccer camp sessions for boys and girls ages 4 to 15 at the Seventh-day Adventist Church, 20575 Broadway - begins with the first session on Monday, July 7, to Friday, July 11, followed by the second camp from July 14 to 18.
