12.05.06 - Tickets are on sale now for the annual Teddy Bear Tea, slated for Saturday and Sunday, Dec. 9 and 10, at the Sonoma Golf Club, 17700 Arnold Drive.

The Teddy Bear Tea has quickly become a popular Sonoma family tradition. Young and old, boys and girls, grandmas and grandpas are encouraged to join in an afternoon of holiday revelry. "This tea is an event that the entire family can enjoy," said Sallie Moore, one of the coordinators.

The outrageous Binky the Elf will headline the entertainment, joined by his larger-than-life companion, Teddy Bear. There's something for everyone: singing, dancing, holiday carols, acting and comedy. The theme of this year's show is, "Live: Christmas From the Red Carpet," featuring musical numbers from the Grammys, Emmys and Academy Awards.

The afternoon menu consists of hot chocolate and tea along with tasty finger sandwiches and yummy cookies and treats.

Each child attending the tea will be presented with a special Teddy Bear keepsake.
The event also features a raffle, showcasing prizes including $500 in cash, tickets to the 2007 Teddy Bear Tea complete with limousine service, children's cooking classes and an array of children's toys. Tickets are $10 each or three for $25.

In keeping with the spirit of the season, guests are asked to bring a book to donate to the Sonoma Children's Home. Last year, more than 200 books were donated.

The Teddy Bear Tea is an annual fund-raiser for St. Francis Solano School, which has educated Sonoma Valley children in a faith-based environment for more than 60 years.

Afternoon teas will take place from 3:30 to 5 p.m., and reservations are required. Tickets are $50 for adults and $40 for children, which includes tax and gratuity.

For additional information call the St. Francis Solano School Parents' Club at 258-3574 or the school office at 996-4994.
