Abusing pot is uncool

Editor, Index-Tribune:

Marijuana abuse and its side effects are not cool. Any substance that, when taken into the living organism, modifies one or more of its functions, is a drug.

The problem is people behaving badly. The marijuana of today is sedating the functions of the forebrain to such an extent the individual is unable to articulate, conceptualize and be intimate. The grass is so strong, it makes people thoughtless and angry. Marijuana is taking people away from their friends and family.

When marijuana was illegal, you had to be cool and know someone who was cool. Nowadays, uncool people have access, they’re not getting high, they’re just becoming more uncool. They plant it, sell it, make enough money to buy a house in a nice neighborhood, move next door, and are uncool. They drink too much, they talk too loud, they think they are hip, but they aren’t, because if they were, they would know that they are uncool.

Saying things louder does not make you right, it only makes you louder and uncool. Having money doesn’t make you wealthy and sophisticated, it will get you better munchies, but you’re still uncool. Being able to afford a better lawyer will improve your representation, but not the argument – you are still uncool. Buying everyone a drink does not make you a great guy, it just makes it easier for people to put up with you being uncool. People who know him would rather have them think they are his friend. Why don’t they take him aside and tell him?
