V2 Wine Group announces new appointments, promotions

V2 Wine Group of Sonoma announced this week that Alex Dessouky, who joined the company in 2010 as director of marketing, has been promoted to vice president of marketing. Joining the company are Michael Pulice as director of national retail accounts; Jack Harvey, south central regional manager; Rick Morrison, director of sales – Qupé; and Jacquelyn Musgrave as finance manager.

Each brings solid, relevant experience as well as tremendous enthusiasm for the wine business and for being part of this dynamic, growing company.” said Dan Leese, president and co-founder with Katy Leese of V2 Wine Group. “We are also very excited to promote Alex Dessouky, whose industry acumen and abilities have been invaluable to us as we’ve built our business.”

Dessouky will be responsible for managing brand strategy, positioning, channel mix, programming and advertising for V2 Wine Group’s brand portfolio. Prior to joining V2 Wine Group he served as marketing manager for 585 Wine Partners, where he worked with founders Dan and Katy Leese, and as associate brand manager, Sonoma Brands, at Foster’s Wine Estates-Americas. With well over a decade of experience in the alcoholic beverage industry, Dessouky’s marketing career began in Egypt where he helped to launch Carlsberg Beer. He also gained valuable advertising and promotions agency experience in San Francisco as an account manager working with clients such as Clorox and Dreyer’s Ice Cream.
 
Pulice will oversee all national retail chain functions for V2 Wine Group’s brand portfolio. With a 20-year industry background that includes top sales and management roles with blue chip wine and spirits companies, Pulice most recently served as California chain manager with W.J. Deutsch & Sons.

Harvey will have responsibility for managing the company’s portfolio in Texas, Missouri, Oklahoma, Kansas, Colorado, Louisiana and Arkansas. With over 25 years in the industry as both a supplier and distributor manager, Harvey was most recently Southwest area manager with Rodney Strong Vineyards, a position he held since 2007.

Morrison comes to V2 Wine Group from Qupé Wine Cellars where he served as national sales manager for eight years, building the brand and gaining exposure at many of the finest restaurants in the U.S. Prior to joining Qupé, He served as national vice president sales/promotion for Richard Branson's indie music label, promoting top charting artists such as The White Stripes and Moby.  He also served for six years as senior national director of Modern Rock Promotion for the RCA/BMG/SONY Music Group, helping to launch the careers of the Dave Matthews Band and the Foo Fighters, among others.

Musgrave comes to V2 Wine Group with extensive experience in investment management and a profound interest in wine. Most recently, Musgrave worked for Lateef Investment Management in Greenbrae, California. Prior to that she served as financial analyst for Premier Pacific Vineyards based in Napa. Musgrave holds a bachelor’s degree in biology from the University of Colorado, Boulder and a master’s degree in finance from the University of Denver.
