El Dorado Kitchen names Armando G Navarro executive chef

El Dorado Kitchen’s new executive chef, Armando G Navarro, comes to Sonoma's after five plus years as executive sous chef at Auberge du Soleil. Before that he trained under some of the best chefs at Le Bernardin, Jean Georges and Daniel Boulud, then returned to California and worked at Jardiniere and Masa's before relocating to Redd in Yountville as the chef du cuisine.

Immediately prior to joining El Dorado Kitchen, he was the executive chef at Larkspur Restaurant in Vail, Colorado for the last three years.

An EDK spokesperson reports that Navarro has updated the menus at El Dorado Kitchen with his signature style and infused them with seasonal ingredients sourced locally at the markets. His style is characterized as fresh, simple and approachable with a Sonoma sensibility.

“It’s taking the same thing, but making something completely different out of it – each with their own unique flavor profiles and textures,” Navarro stated. “It gives me the opportunity to show a variety of interpretations to a single item just by preparing it differently.”

El Dorado Kitchen has also hired Treg Finney as its new general manager, who will oversee operations in the restaurant, Corner Café and El Dorado Hotel. Finney's restaurant experience spans over 20 years at some of the most prestigious restaurants along the West Coast: Fish Story, Left Bank, Martini House, Bacar, Jardiniere and One Market.
