Fishing Report November 11, 2011

Crab season opener outstanding

Nov 9, 2011 - 02:37 PM

Fishing closer to Sonoma this week, striped bass fishing from the bank at Port Sonoma and along the Marin Shoreline, including China Camp, is very good this week reports Joel Sinkay of Leonard's Bait Shop at Port Sonoma, and also by Keith Fraser at Loch Lomond.  Live bullheads are the best bait, but anglers are also catching fish on live shrimp and pile worms.
Capt. Rick Powers of Bodega Bay Sportsfishing had a great Dungeness crab opener last weekend, with full limits for all of his party boat guests as well as nice catches of rock fish and ling cod.  He is still taking out the crab and rock fish combo trips at $100 per angler. Call him at 875-3344 to book a trip.
Fly fishing on the upper Sacramento River is only fair says Bob Grace at the Ted Fay Fly Shop in Dunsmuir.  Lake Ralphine in Santa Rosa was planted with rainbow trout last week.
Leland Fly Fishing Ranch is offering special Rod and Reel fly fishing seminar deals this Sunday, as well as Nov. 27 and Dec. 11. Call them at 939-6910 or go to flyfishingoutfitters.com for the details.
