Raspberry Chocolate Sweets

Ingredients:

1 cup butter, softened
1-1/2 cup sugar, divided
2 egg yolks
2-1/2 cup all purpose flour
10 oz. raspberry jam or jelly
1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
4 egg whites
1/4 t. salt
2 cups coarse chopped pecans or other nuts

Preparation - Directions:

Preheat oven to 350°. Cream butter and 1/2 cup of the sugar. Add egg yolks and blend and mix very well. Add flour and blend. Spread on greased 10 inch by 15 inch jelly roll pan and bake 15 to 20 minutes. Remove pan from oven, spread with preferred raspberry and sprinkle with chocolate chips. Beat egg whites with salt until stiff. Gradually fold in remaining sugar and fold in the nuts. Spread this on top of baked crust. Bake 25 minutes. Cool before cutting. Makes 4 dozen bars.
