Jolly Good No Yeast Dill Bread

Category: Bread & Sweet Breads
Ingredients:

2 cups white flour
2 t. salt
1 t. baking soda
1/2 t. baking powder
1-1/2 whole wheat flour
1-1/2 t. dried dill seed
1-1/2 cup buttermilk
3 T. melted butter
2 T. honey
3 T. milk

Preparation - Directions:

Sift together the first four ingredients, then stir in the whole wheat flour and 1 teaspoon dill seed. In another bowl, mix buttermilk, butter and honey. Add it to the dry ingredients. This dough will be fairly stiff. There is no need to knead. Just shape into a round loaf and place on a buttered pie pan. With a knife, make a gash across the top, then brush with milk. Sprinkle with remaining dill seed. Bake at 375° for 55 minutes. Cool before you slice it, if you can wait that long. Delicious when toasted. Makes one small, round loaf.
