2 T. melted butter
2 T. all purpose flour
1 cup milk
dash cayenne (optional)
generous dash paprika
1/3 cup Vella Swiss cheese divided, grated
1/3 cup Monterey Jack cheese divided, grated
2 T. dry sherry
1 14 oz. can artichoke hearts
thin slices cooked ham
1/2 cup buttered French bread crumbs
|Preparation - Directions:
Place melted butter in skillet and stir in flour using low moderate heat.
Remove from heat and gradually stir in milk mixing well until smooth and creamy using wooden spoon, return to heat and cook, stirring constantly until sauce is thickened.
Add pepper and paprika and one half of both cheeses. Remove from heat and stir in sherry.
Wrap ham slices around artichoke heart and secure with toothpick. Place in buttered baking dish close together. Sprinkle with topped bread crumbs and balance of cheeses. Bake 350° for 25 to 30 minutes until golden brown and bubbly.
