Soak fruit one day before cooking in rum or brandy, stirring occasionally. Cream soft butter, sugar, spices and flavorings. Slowly add in eggs, stirring. Fold in bread flour. Add fruit and nuts. Bake at 375° in waterbath. Test for doneness with toothpick. Makes four 2 lb. cakes.
