Choco-Nut Dainties

Category: Desserts
Ingredients:

2-1/4 cup flour
1/2 t. salt
3/4 cup (1-1/2 sticks) margarine, softened
3/4 cup sugar
1 egg
1-1/2 t. vanilla
1 6-oz. pkg. miniature semisweet chocolate chips
CHOCOLATE COATING:
1 12-oz pkg. semi-sweet chocolate chips
1/2 to 1 stick margarine
2 cups walnuts, chopped

Preparation - Directions:

Preheat oven to 350°. Mix flour and salt together on wax paper. Beat together margarine, sugar, egg and vanilla in large bowl until well mixed. Blend in flour mixture. Stir in chocolate chips. Shape dough on lightly floured surface into logs 2 inches by 1/2 inch. Place on ungreased cookie sheet. Bake at 350° for 12 to 15 minutes or until cookies are set. Cool on wire rack.
To make chocolate coating, melt large package chocolate chips with 1/2 stick margarine in double boiler over hot water. Stir until blended smooth. If mixture is too thick, add more margarine, 1 tablespoon at a time, until it is a good coating consistency. Dip ends of cookies into chocolate coating; roll ends in chopped nuts. Place on wax paper until set.
