Dear Dawn: I am devastated to read that Steve passed. But knowing he is free from so much pain for years brings some small comfort. Steve was first my wonderful attorney and then friend. I send you love and prayers from Florida. Jerry Hall Biers

Even in the rush of a busy day, Steve would always made time to speak with me and always had a kind and encouraging word. I will miss our collegial discussions about particular cases and the general issues of the day. Steve will be missed and our legal community is worse off for the passing of this fine man. Rest in peace Steve. God Bless and keep your family.

I just received this truly devastating news of Steve's passing. Steve and I were close friends from 1969 to 1972 when we attended the U.C.L.A. School of Law. Further, we were in a graduate dormitory (couple rooms apart) at Hershey Hall from 1969-1970. Steve made that first year of law school bearable with his fantastic sense of humor, activism, and love of rock n roll. In between martial law after Kent State in 1970, going to the Whiskey A Go Go 15 minutes away on weekends to see The Doors, Buffalo Springfield, et al, seeing Yellow Submarine with our "gang" of law and medical student friends at Royce Hall, and loaning quite frequently my Neil Young-like fringe jacket to Steve, I have GRAND memories. I am ever so sorry Dawn and I have tears as I am writing this salute to my friend. Warm thoughts, Rick Sorensen Romero, Bodega Bay, CA

Thank you to everyone who came to his Celebration of Life. The stories of his patience and kindness were very comforting.
I know now he is out of pain and enjoying all the activities he missed for so long. Hon, we love you and want you to be free like a shooting star! We will cherish you always.
With much love, Dawn and Jessica
