Sonoma’s Lacy, Serafini, Denning, Amandoli, Schimm wrestling top-seeds for Saturday’s SCL championships

Having gone unbeaten en route to winning the recent Sonoma County League dual-match title in dominating fashion, now the Sonoma Valley High School varsity wrestlers are focused as the top-seed in claiming the SCL championship tournament crown.

The Sonoma grapplers will enter tomorrow’s, Saturday, Feb. 16, 9 a.m. league championships at El Molino in Forestville with nine Dragons seeded in the top-four in their weight-classes, including five first-seeds.

Sonoma’s SCL  top-seeds are co-captain seniors Aidan Lacy (222 pounds), Giordi Serafini (122) and Sam Denning (128), and junior Max Schimm (147), along with senior Jonny Amandoli (197).

Also for the Dragons, junior Harris Meglen (115) is a second-seed, freshman Dalton Elster (heavyweights) a third-seed, and junior Chris Lohnes (108) and sophomore Jack Biaggi (184) are fourth-seeds.

The SCL tourney’s top-three individual medal finishers in each weight class advance to the postseason’s prestigious North Coast Section championships, which take place at 9 a.m. on Friday and Saturday, Feb. 22 and 23, in Newark.
