With all-league, All-Empire senior Jonah Son providing a power boost, the Sonoma Valley High School varsity baseball boys racked up their fourth straight nonleague win to start preseason play yesterday afternoon at Arnold Field.
In his first at-bat beginning the bottom of the second inning, clean-up-hitting first-baseman Son smashed a towering fly ball that sailed over the left-field fence for a homer, later adding two more RBIs as senior southpaw Brennan Cole pitched a four-hit, five-inning shutout as the Dragons posted a 10-run-rule, 10-0 win over Terra Linda.
Sonoma will attempt a Marin County sweep – with wins over San Marin, Novato and Terra Linda – when it travels to San Anselmo to battle Drake this Friday, March 8, before hosting nonleague Eureka at 1 p.m. on Saturday, March 9, at Arnold Field.
