Shameful assault can’t be tolerated
Editor, Index-Tribune:
Regarding the recent assault at a Plaza tavern, I am appalled that such a thing could happen in our town, among locals to boot. We are all adults and should know the simple rules taught in preschool – keep your hands to yourself.
On any given night, I, as a 42-year-old woman and mother, should be able to enjoy a drink of cheer. For this assault to happen to such an amazing woman and mother to a phenomenal son – we can’t allow it. Please, let’s come together and make certain the responsible individuals are made accountable. Our town of Sonoma is known as a safe haven for all of us, as well as for visiting tourists. I’m ashamed and disheartened that this could occur on our watch, and the fact an arrest has not been made isn’t the message we want to send.
The message should be, “We will NOT tolerate such barbaric behavior, period.” Our thoughts and prayers are with Kris. As a village, we will obtain justice. We will come out of this as a town that leads by example.
