Robert (Bob) Bullock

Robert Bullock (Bob), a 32-year resident of Sonoma, passed away peacefully on the morning of Feb. 1.

Born Oct. 30, 1914 in Manchester-by-the-Sea, Mass., he came to San Francisco for a visit in 1936 and ended up making it his home. He met his wife, Carmelita (Sanguinetti), there in 1939, and they married shortly thereafter. They raised their children in Mill Valley, later moving back to Telegraph Hill, where they lived happily for many years. He and Carmelita enjoyed traveling, both locally and in Europe, lived for a time in Seville, Spain, and eventually settled near the square in Sonoma, finally making their home at Vintage Sonoma. Bob loved to hike on Mount Tamalpais and in Sonoma, took great pleasure in reading, especially history and enjoyed good conversation.

Carmelita predeceased him Dec. 23, 2013, after 73 years of marriage. He is survived by his son, Anthony, of San Francisco; and his daughter, Deborah, of Oakland; granddaughter, Ilse Singer, of New York City; grandson, Bobby Burleson (Erika); and great-grandsons, Benjamin and Nicholas Burleson, all of Alamo; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by sister, Katherine; and brother, Benjamin. He had a long and happy life and will be greatly missed by those who loved him.

The family thanks the staff at Vintage Sonoma and the nursing team from Hospice By The Bay for their compassionate, excellent care.

Family services will be held Friday, Feb. 8, at 12:30 p.m. at Duggan’s Mission Chapel in Sonoma, with private interment at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Los Altos. Donations in Bob’s name may be made to The Sonoma Land Trust or Hospice By The Bay, Sonoma.
