The annual Repo Show at the Arts Guild of Sonoma, now in its fifth year, proves that trash doesn’t have to be garbage. More than 80 area artists used any found or recycled material they could get their hands on to build fanciful artwork, which will be displayed throughout March in a silent auction to benefit the nonprofit guild.
The show runs through March 23, but will mark its opening night reception tonight, Friday, March 1, from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Arts Guild Gallery, 140 E. Napa St.
Live music and refreshments can be found at the opening reception. Tickets are $15, payable online through the Sonoma Valley Box Office at svbo.org. Tickets will also be available at the door the night of the event.
The Repo Show solicits original artworks composed of at least 70 percent recycled, re-claimed or re-used materials. The show exhibits artwork by professional artists, including guild members and their artist guests, AGS community members and community leaders. Every piece is available to buy through the silent auction.
Bids can be placed on all pieces either at the gallery or online by visiting to artsguildreposhow.org through March 23, when there will be a closing party from 6 to 9 p.m. at the gallery – the last chance to place a bid on any artwork.
All entries are donated by the artists for the silent auction, which benefits the guild and its many community outreach programs.
For more information, go to artsguildreposhow.org, call 996-3115 or visit the gallery.

If you show artwork in the paper whether it was a piece of art from the past, I think the artist should be credited. It is very important.
