SONOMA RACEWAY’S TICKETS and ticket packages for the 2013 Big O Tires racing season are currently available to purchase, with the best ticket package again being the Track Pass, which includes tickets to all major events, plus a choice of one ticket package for either NASCAR, IndyCar, NHRA or World Touring. SONOMA VALLEY HIGH School’s 2013 spring sports preseason workouts in six sports – boys’ baseball, girls’ softball, boys’ tennis and golf, boys’ and girls’ track and field, and boys’ and girls’ swimming – begin this Monday, Feb. 4. Students who want to participate in Sonoma’s 2013 spring sports programs need to have all their paperwork and mandatory current physical examinations completed before they can practice. Sports fees are $125 for varsity, junior varsity and freshman student-athletes, and can be paid – with forms and paperwork available – at the SVHS student activities office Monday through Friday, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

 

BOYS & GIRLS CLUBS Sonoma Valley are holding registration sessions for youth T-ball and coach-pitch baseball for boys and girls ages 4 to 8 years old at the club’s location in Maxwell Farms Regional Park, 100 Verano Ave., from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. tomorrow, Saturday, Feb. 2; and Saturday, Feb, 16. Cost is $60 for club members and $180, including $120 for club membership, for non-club members. There is no membership fee for 4- and 5-year-olds. SONOMA VALLEY BABE Ruth Baseball Association will hold registration for all players 13-to-15-years-old on or before April 30, from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Multipurpose Room at Arnold Field, 250 First St. W., this Monday, Feb. 4, and Wednesday, Feb. 6; and from 10 a.m. to noon on Saturday, Feb. 9. Any new player to Babe Ruth must furnish an original-sealed birth certificate, which will be inspected and returned. Cost for the 2013 season is $165 a player, and the league also requires a second a family volunteer check for $100, which will be refunded after a snack-bar shift is worked. SVBR is still accepting letters of intent, including a resumé of coaching experience, to manage or coach during the 2012 season, and should forward letters to S.V.B.R., P.O. SONOMA VALLEY’S FIELD of Dreams will hold its annual users meeting at 6 p.m. this Wednesday, Feb. 6, at Round Table Pizza, 201 W. Napa St. This is a mandatory scheduling meeting for Valley sports groups interested in using the Field of Dreams in 2013 and all users must bring their projected hours. SONOMA BOCCE BALL Association will open its fifth year of action at the bocce courts south of the gazebo in Depot Park, with more than 200 members forming nine leagues – two on Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Sunday, and one on Saturday – starting play the first week of April. Sign-ups are currently being held for new and existing members, with the annual membership cost being $20 a person. To register, checks made out to Bocce Sonoma can be mailed to Ginette Cary, 364 Las Casitas Court, Sonoma, CA 95476. All returning players need to have their checks received by March 15, in order to guarantee play in their respective league. SONOMA LITTLE LEAGUE continues its online registration – costs are $105 a player and $65 for siblings, with a $100 volunteer deposit – at sonomalittleleague.com.

 

SONOMA VALLEY HIGH School’s alumni committee organizing the 2013 Dragon Hall of Fame event, taking place Saturday, May 11, at Hanna Boys Center’s new facility on its Arnold Drive campus, needs help with its search for members of the Sonoma girls’ 1978 and ’79 cross country championship teams. NAPA STORMERS RUGBY Club, registered with the NCYRA under USA Rugby, is open to high school players from both the Napa and Sonoma valleys.
