Piano concert to benefit Jack London State Historic Park

In what is the sixth benefit concert for the park, the Jack London Piano Club presents the first concert of 2013 on Sunday, Feb. 10, within the House of Happy Walls of the Jack London State Historic Park. The five featured piano soloists from the Jack London Piano Club include Jud Goodrich, Marilynn Scott, Jim Wittes, Zina Milyavsky and Esfir Ross. Their diverse repertoire ranges from classical to popular songs from the “Great American Songbook.” Jennifer Farmer will be the special guest performer. The evening gets underway at 4 p.m. with refreshments served at intermission. For tickets and more information, call 938-5216.

  The Mardi Gras season gets into full-swing on Saturday, Feb. 9, at Meadowcroft Winery at Cornerstone in Carneros, where they will have a Second Line parade that will run through the compound and will crown the official king and queen of Mardi Gras. All the food for this Mardi Gras celebration is being flown in from Louisiana. On the menu is crawfish etouffe served over rice arriving from Baton Rouge, red beans and rice with Cajun sausage from Eunice, Jack Miller’s barbecue sauce from Ville Platte, as well as French bread, Louisiana sensation salad and king cakes from New Orleans. Rhythmtown Jive will be providing the music, and will be leading the parade as well. It’s even rumored that Popo the Clown will be in attendance.   The historic Sebastiani Theatre is presenting “One Night in Paris, a 1920s Gypsy Jazz and Musette Show” on Monday, Feb. 11, kicking off at 7:30 p.m. Rue Manouche will take the stage and present an evening of music inspired by Django Reinhardt, the king of gypsy jazz. Reinhardt was foremost among a group of gypsy guitarists working in and around Paris in the ’30s through the ’50s. Showtime is 7:30 p.m. and tickets will be available at the door, if available, or in advance at the theatre box office.

  The Gristmill Bar and Grill in Glen Ellen welcomes the Alan Early Trio on Saturday, Feb. 9, for an evening of jazz standards, kicking off at 6 p.m.

  The Kathmandu Corner presents Sue Albano and Mark Dennis tonight, Feb. 8, for an 8 p.m. show. Saturday, Feb. 9, it’s the Cork Puller, also at 8 p.m.

  Murphy’s Irish Pub has the Timothy O’Neil Band tonight, Feb. 8, kicking off at 8 p.m. for a night of traditional bluegrass. Saturday, Feb. 9, it’s Larry Carlin with the WhatKnotts for a night of an eclectic mix of classic country, bluegrass, old-time rock ‘n’ roll and “whatnot.” That show also gets underway at 8 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 10, it’s an early show with Sean Carscadden and Marty O’Reilly, kicking off at 6:30 p.m. There is no cover for any of the shows at the pub.

  Steiners Tavern welcomes Dan Martin and the Noma Rocksteady Band tonight, Feb. 8, for a 10 p.m. show. There is no cover.

  The Annex Wine Bar has Don Trotta tonight Feb. 8, kicking off at 7 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 9, it’s Hard Travelin’ for a show that also gets underway at 7 p.m. There is no cover either night.

  The Eric James Tasting Room welcomes Stevie Gurr tonight, Feb. 8, for a 7 p.m. start time. Saturday, Feb. 9, it’s Steve Willis, also for a 7 p.m. show.

  HopMonk Tavern Sonoma has Matt Bolton tonight, Feb. 8, starting at 8:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 9, it’s the Hellhounds for a night of blues, also for an 8:30 p.m. show. There is no cover either night.

  The Sonoma Springs Brewery presents Dave Robbins tonight, Feb. 8, for a 5 p.m. show.

  The Plaza Bistro has Mad and Eddie Duran tonight, Feb. 8, for a 6:30 p.m. show. There is no cover for the show.

  The Fremont Diner presents 3 on a Match featuring “Smokin’ Joe” Herrschaft and Paul “Steelhead” Christopulos on Sunday, Feb. 10, for an afternoon of blues kicking off at 2 p.m.

  Olive and Vine in Glen Ellen welcome the Latin guitar sounds of Carlos Herrera on Sunday, Feb. 10, as part of the Sunday Supper Club. With Herreras will be Dan Abela on congas. Showtime is 6 p.m.

  The Epicurean Connection has Tony Gibson playing acoustic punk rock tonight, Feb. 8, for a 7:30 p.m. show. Saturday, Feb. 9 it’s the sounds of Adam Traum and Dave Aguilar also for a 7:30 p.m. show. There is no cover.

  The Blue Moon Saloon has karaoke on Saturday, Feb. 9, kicking off at 9 p.m. and the continuation of the Sunday night blues jam, on Sunday, Feb 10, commencing at 10 p.m.

  The David Thom Band is on the road this weekend at the Bergamot Alley Wine Bar in Healdsburg tonight at 9 p.m. Saturday, it’s an afternoon show at the Lagunitas Taproom and Beer Sanctuary for a 4:20 p.m. start time.

  Gator Beat will be in Napa at the county fairgrounds on Saturday, Feb. 9, as part of the Saints and Sinners Ball, kicking off at 7 p.m.

  E. Z. Kewl will be at A’Roma Roasters in Santa Rosa tonight, Feb. 8, for a 7 p.m. show.
