Margaret Elena Bushey
Margaret Elena Bushey
Margaret Elena Bushey passed peacefully on Jan. 12, 2013, after a prolonged battle with breast cancer.
Margaret was born on Dec. 19, 1946, in Russell, Kan. As the daughter of an army colonel, she spent time in Japan and Thailand, which she spoke of fondly.
In 1975, she moved to Sonoma County where she continued to live until 2006. Margaret was well-known as the graveyard clerk at the 7-Eleven in Boyes Hot Springs, where she worked for 30 years. It was a job she truly loved.
In 2006, she moved to Chico to help care for her special needs granddaughter. She enjoyed her San Francisco Giants, gin and tonics and expert level diagramless crosswords – which she always completed in pen.
Margaret was preceded in death by her parents, Col. Albert D. and Helen Guffanti. She is survived by her daughters, Jennelle Zarn (husband, Scott) and Maria Sayre (husband, Mike). She is also survived by her grandchildren, Bobby Mihalovits, Becky Mihalovits, Tatiana Bushey and Amanda Sayre; her sisters, Linda Guffanti, Marianne Ferrari (husband, Frank) and Carole Guffanti Notley; brother, Bob Guffanti; nephews, Chris Erick, Dominic Ferrari and Austin Notley; nieces, Molly Guffanti and Nina Ferrari; and her son-in-law, Bob Mihalovits.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, Feb. 16, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Kenwood Depot. In lieu of flowers, we ask that donations be made in the name of Amanda Sayre to the Angelman Syndrome Foundation at www.angelman.org (search for Margaret Bushey on the Donate Now page) or by mailing a check to:

My mom was an amazing woman. And I miss her more than I can say.
